In our practice in the heart of Mainz-Gonsenheim, we want to ensure professionally competent and comprehensive urological care. You and your needs as a patient will always be our focus. We are familiar with all proven and current methods of modern diagnostics and therapy in urology. In addition, we regularly continue our training to treat our patients according to the latest scientific findings.
Above all, we would also like to ensure that you, as our patients, stay healthy for as long as possible and that we identify any potential illness as early as possible. Therefore, regular check-ups and prevention are very important to us. We therefore offer, for example, ultrasound examination of the kidney, regular measurements of the PSA level in men, urine tests and much more. With our reminder system we can tell you when your next check-up is approaching.
In addition to our medical knowledge, our entire practice team aspires to develop a trusting relationship with our patients, which is characterized by reliability, discretion and empathy. We know that being your doctor is a big vote of confidence. Our health is the most important gift we have as a human being.
Consultation is available in English upon request. PD Dr. Sebastian Frees is a native speaker and did part of his medical training and research in Canada. Dr. Rüdiger Jakobi und Dr. Monika Neuhäuser speak English fluently.

It is important to us that you stay healthy as long as possible. Therefore medical prevention and screening play an important role in diagnosing a disease at an early stage if it happens to occur.
The urologist is not only a doctor for men. We also take care of diseases that occur in women with the same frequency or even more often than in men, such as bladder cancer, incontinence and recurrent urinary tract infections.
The urological screening that the German governmental insurance covers includes:
- Collection of patient history
- Physical examination
- Screening of blood in stool starting at the age of 50 years of age.
- Screening for abnormalities of the major body arteries starting at 65 years of age
In addition, we offer an extended screening as individual health services (IGeL). This includes:
- assessment of the PSA (a blood test for prostate cancer detection)
- screening for bladder cancer (urine test)
- ultrasound of the prostate
Urological Oncology comprises the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of tumors of the kidney, the bladder, the prostate, the testicals and the penis.
We are registered for medical cancer treatment. One of the main focusses of our practice is The treatment of advanced urological cancers with modern hormonal treatment, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, as well as immunotherapy.
We are certified partners of the German Cancer Society (Deutsche Krebsgesellschaft e.V.) (Download Certificate)
With increasing age, the male's prostate grows. This can cause prostate problems. Signs of an enlarged prostate include: reduced urinary flow, feeling of incomplete bladder emptying, increased urge to void, increase in nocturnal voiding frequency. For diagnosis, urinary flow measurement (uroflowmetry) and sonography of the prostate and bladder are available in our practice. Therapeutic options include both medical and surgical treatment, which if necessary, we would be happy to advise you about.
For the diagnosis of stone diseases, modern ultrasound devices are available in our practice. Therapeutic options include medical treatment as well as shock wave lithotrypsie and minimally invasive surgery.
In addition to the diagnostics, our approach to stone disease is also about preventing recurrences and the early detection of new formation of stones. Again, we are happy to assist you with our expertise.
Urinary incontinence includes all complaints associated with involuntary urine loss, increased urinary urgency and / or nocturnal voiding. For many people, incontinence is a taboo subject. Talk to us - we understand how frequently patients suffer from this condition.
We are happy to advise you about the different treatment options. We cooperate closely with specially trained urotherapists, who can introduce you to pelvic floor training. In addition, with the appropriate indication, we have the ability to carry out a bladder-pressure-measurement (urodynamics).
Erectile and sexual dysfunction are often associated with impaired quality of life and can burden partnerships. Often an erectile dysfunction is also the first indication of a cardiovascular problem.
The syndrome of the "aging male" is a considerable burden for many patients who depend on high performance. This may be due to an imbalance of the male hormones:
We offer you detailed diagnostics, advice and treatment for:
- Erectile Dysfunction
- Sexual Dysfunction
- Men's menopause including hormone diagnostics
Children are not simply small adults. Pediatric urology requires special professional expertise and empathy. For us, pediatric urology is one of the central components of our specialty. We have a long clinical experience in diagnostics, consultation and treatment for pediatric urology disorders including:
- undescended testicles
- bedwetting (enuresis)
- urinary incontinence
- congenital dilatation of the renal pelvis system
In the day clinic Am Brand we offer you the following outpatient surgery:
- Circumcisions
- Surgery on the external male genitals (hydroceles, spermatoceles, biopsies)
- Vasectomies
